Work on the new hospice centre in Belgrade has started!

Phase 1 works

The exciting news is that the building works have now started. The ground- breaking ceremony took place at the start of June and the estimated time of completion is mid-August. When Phase 1 is complete BELhospice will provide two new services:-

  • an out-patient unit and
  • a day-care centre.

The new centre will also house the existing home visits team and the education and

New nurse Jelena

At BELhospice’s annual dinner Hospices of Hope’s founder, Graham Perolls, stood up and pledged €1,000 towards a nurse’s salary. He asked for 11 guests to match this funding. The audience was very generous and new nurse, Jelena has started working for BELhospice. She says, when caring for terminally ill patients, that

“If you, at least a little, succeed in alleviating their suffering, you will see the gratitude on their faces, and that is very special.”
