Message from our Executive Director

Dear Supporters

We often mention the services our country partners offer and I want to highlight one particularly valuable service provided by Hospice Casa Sperantei.

You will see Renanta's story in this newsletter.

She receives lymphatic massage therapy at the Bucharest Hospice. This treatment is not generally available in Romania despite the fact that lymphoedema is often extremely painful and adversely affects patient's lives.

Patients with lymphoedema tell us that they feel very self-conscious about their appearance and some face prejudice as their condition is not widely understood.

For many people living with lymphoedema, Hospice Casa Sperantei is the only organisation that can help them.

Knowing how vital this service is, we have introduced a lymphatic massage unit into Albania. Hospice in the Weald, with the support of the Lions Club, generously donated lymphoedema equipment it no longer needed to us. Thanks to this joint effort a number of patients are now receiving treatment at the ABC Health Centre in Tirana which is improving the quality of their lives.

Your support means we can continue to introduce and improve hospice services such as this into our partner countries.

Sincerely,
