In 2018 I volunteered to help on a Summer Camp in Romania for Hospices of Hope, with my good friend Andrew Woods. To say this was life-changing is an understatement. The Hospices do a great deal of work for people that suffer life-threatening and terminal illnesses, and are entirely funded by donations. But there is another side to their work - all too often we forget that there are suffering families too, and this includes children. Romania offers very little in the way of healthcare, and support for these families there is no support.
Hospices of Hope offer something to these children. Summer camps give the children a chance to be children again, to experience life away from their everyday surroundings and to enjoy a relaxed and fun week in the company of other children, as well as a group of adults who are still children at heart.

These camps are invaluable to the children that benefit, and are a life-affirming experience for those who assist. The children ask for nothing but time, and none of the volunteers are paid - indeed, we provide a lot of additional goods and materials to make the camps special. But the entire experience is self-funded.

What do we raise money for? Each volunteer funds their flights, accommodation, meals and other costs. In addition, the amount we raise covers the cost of a number of the children to attend the camp. Anything we raise on top of this goes towards making the camp accessible to more children. Your help in making this possible would be greatly appreciated.
