We have supported the work of Hospices of Hope for many years now, recognising the desperate need for palliative care, for all ages, in many Eastern European countries.

We visited Romania many years ago when the work first started and have been amazed at what the charity has achieved, now extending their work into Moldova, Serbia and Albania. In these countries the vast majority of people with terminal or life limiting illness do not receive proper care at the end of their lives. They are left to die without their pain and symptoms being treated and without any emotional or spiritual support.

Since Hospice of Hope started their work, access to free hospice care in South East Europe has significantly improved and they have helped more than 40,000 patients and their families.

But there is still a long way to go and access to hospice care is still extremely limited.
