I am volunteering at the Belgrade holiday club this coming summer which is for children whose family members are cared for by the hospice or who have recently suffered bereavement. The holiday club will give the children a place to be distracted and have fun. After hearing about the charity from my girlfriend, who volunteered in Brasov last year, I wanted to contribute to the amazing work she has told me the charity does

Serbia has a corrupt medical system in which those – the poorest – who cannot afford to bribe doctors, will be sent home to die in pain. In Serbia, Hospices of Hope are partnered with BELhospice where together they provide the only free hospice care for terminally ill patients. It is awful to consider the level of suffering there must be in this country and how important the introduction of this care must be. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be for a child stuck in this situation and look forward to helping provide some care-free time for them to relax and have fun. To help raise money I will be completing a 40-mile Ultra Marathon on April 4th. I have never run further than 6mi (10Km) in my life so this will certainly be out of my comfort zone. Hopefully all goes well.

UPDATE. 11/09/2020

The event was postponed due to Covid-19 and then recently cancelled. So i've decided to make my own route across Nottingham where I am at uni on roughly the same date (20th September).

Check out last years summer trips!
