His Royal Highness spent an hour talking to patients, volunteers and staff at the HOSPICE. He also met some representatives from major HOSPICE donors and from local and national government. The Prince spent time with the child patients and helped them with their craft activities. He held the hand of a little girl who is suffering from a brain tumor as she chatted to him. He heard about C’s experience as a wheelchair runner in the Bucharest half marathon and accepted an egg from S who has a spinal tumor. It is 25 years since Hospices of Hope set up Romanian charity Hospice Casa Sperantei and the Prince cut a cake to mark the anniversary and launch the celebrations. The Prince also saw an exhibition about our children’s hospice and therapy center in Copaceni which we are opening later this year. The royal visit recognized the the impact Hospices of Hope and HOSPICE Casa Sperantei has had on end of life care in Romania and other countries in South East Europe.
