Last week Costi shared with us the song Our God is in Control by Steven Curtis Chapman and afterwards when I was typing up the notes from it I listened to the song again, and paid greater attention to the words and it lead me to read more about Steven. The words from the song are as follows:

This is not how it should be
This is not how it could be
This is how it is
And our God is in control

This is not how it will be
When we finally will see
We'll see with our own eyes
He was always in control

This is not where we planned to be
When we started this journey
But this is where we are
And our God is in control

Though this first taste is bitter
There will be sweetness forever
When we finally taste and see
That our God is in control

The words are powerful on their own, and this is without hearing about an event in his and his family’s life that inspired them. In May 2008 his five year old daughter was tragically killed in an accident where her older brother knocked her down on their driveway whilst driving a car. Something like this could break a family, but their faith in God pulled them through, and this was one of the songs that was written during the months that followed the accident.

I found this video during the week, and I wanted to share it with you.

This is not how it should be
This is not how it could be
This is how it is
And our God is in control

This is not where we planned to be
When we started this journey
But this is where we are
And our God is in control

In the clip Steven talks about a God of all comfort- we all have lots of things going on in our lives, some good, some not so good and my question to us is ‘What do we need comfort from and why not ask God to give us the comfort we need?’
