Our Bagpuss Children’s Wing is part of the hospice in Brasov which is run by our country partner, Hospice Casa Sperantei. The Hospice was the first in-patient teaching hospice we opened.

One of Bagpuss's creators, Oliver Postgate, gave a substantial donation which allowed us to open the children's wing in the hospice. The Wing is named after Bagpuss and is brightly decorated with pictures of the "saggy, old cloth cat".

At any one time, the Wing cares for 150 children with terminal, rare or life-limiting illness. It has six in-patient beds and is the base for many other services for children.

The annual cost to run the Bagpuss Children's Wing is in the region of £215,000. Funds raised through our Bagpuss Appeal and #TeamBagpuss events support this work.

The Bagpuss Day Centre

The Bagpuss Day Care Centre is one of the services provided in the Bagpuss Wing. The children love to come to the day care centre where they can take part in activities and therapy sessions.  Therapy includes physiotherapy (the sensory room is particularly popular), psychological counselling, occupational therapy and therapy through play and drama sessions.
Home Care
Sadly many of the children are too ill to travel to the hospice. The paediatric care team supports these children and their families in their homes. In 2017 the team made 1,286 home care visits.
