Could your business be one of 17 organisations donating just £62.50 +vat a month for 12 months (£750 +vat in total) for a nurse who will care for children with serious conditions such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy with kindness and compassion? Why a Bagpuss Wing Nurse? Oliver Postgate was one of the creators of much loved TV character Bagpuss. His generosity allowed us to open a children's wing in our hospice in Brasov, Romania. The Wing is called the Bagpuss Wing because of this. Oliver and co-creator Peter Firmin, allow us to use Bagpuss and his friends to raise funds for the Bagpuss Wing. Bagpuss Wing Nurses The nurses who care for the children are specially trained. They care for children who are staying in the inpatient unit, for children who receive treatment such as physiotherapy as outpatients and for children in the day centre. The day centre is particularly important as it gives the children the chance to relax, enjoy themselves and forget about illness for a while. There are many children who are too ill to leave their home or whose families are too poor to afford transport costs. Nurses who are part of the Bagpuss Wing home care team visit them in their homes. Without this service many seriously ill children would not receive any medical care. only a very small proportion of state funding covers the home care nursing service. Specific Benefit: the Bagpuss Wing Nurse will be proud to wear a name badge recognising your generosity
