SUMMARY

Hospices of Hope is the leading hospice charity in South Eastern Europe. We think everyone deserves the best possible care at the end of life. But in developing countries like Romania, Serbia or Moldova many patients still die in pain, without being offered any physical, spiritual or emotional comfort.  20 years after the fall of communism these are still some of the poorest countries in Europe, with a struggling healthcare system that offers little or nothing in the way of hospice care. We are dedicated to improving the life of the terminally ill in Romania and surrounding countries by increasing access to hospice care and training. Over 40,000 patients have benefited from our services since 1992 and we have trained over 20,000 Doctors, Nurses and Medical Professionals in specialist palliative care. Even in the UK, the hospice movement has grown only due to the generosity of individuals and businesses.  The difference is that most people who live in Romania, Serbia and Moldova have so much less to give.  That is why we need your help.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Social Media Intern

Location: The role is based at 11 High Street, Otford, Kent, TN14 5PG Or it can be done remotely if preferred.

Hours: Flexible between 09:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday, with up to an hour’s break for lunch.

Duration: The internship will be for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months, working at least 3 days a week. As per the Volunteer Agreement, the role may be brought to a conclusion by either side, ideally with reasonable notice.

Line Manager: Digital Marketing Assistant

Salary: Unpaid

Other details:  This is a voluntary role, and as such there is no contract, no employment relationship or obligation placed on the intern. Travel expenses to and from work, and a lunch allowance will be covered, for which receipts will be required. Volunteers will have access to the Otford Tea Rooms below the office and are entitled to a discount of 50% on meals, and free coffee.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Looking at social media sites, especially Facebook and Twitter to raise the charity’s profile
  • Raise the charity’s followers on our social media sites
  • Research ways in which we can target 20’s to 30’s to become ambassadors for the charity.
  • Create engaging social media content.
  • Communicate with the team to receive content for social media
  • Use of social media analytics to track our social media presence

This internship will provide the essential skills and experience in social media and communications. Skills acquired will benefit those looking to enter an increasingly competitive NGO sector, or many other opportunities through essential transferable skills such as:
