Could you Volunteer?

We rely on volunteers in so many ways to be part of the team aiming to bring hospice care to adults and children with a terminal illness in a region where this type of care is new or even non-existent.

Could you:

go to Romania, Serbia or Moldova?

work in one of our UK charity shops?

help in one of our UK offices?

run a fundraising event or participate in a sponsored event?

Volunteer at one of our Hospice partners?

We have a range of opportunities for volunteers to work at Hospice Casa Sperantei in Brasov, Romania. So could you spare anything from a week to maybe even a few months?

Each year a team of volunteers spend a week helping to run the annual Holiday Club for children who are patients in the Hospice offering activities from music and singing, arts and crafts, games and much more.

During the summer, we also help to run the Summer Camp, a week-long 'holiday' in the Transylvanian mountains for children who have a parent or sibling in the care of the Hospice.

"Me and my brother went to the camp up in the mountains. We met other kids who were in the same situation as us. It really helped." Sergiu

Alternatively, you may be skilled in maintenance (plumbing, DIY, wiring, etc), decorating, building or gardening or be able to offer English lessons to patients and staff in our new English teaching programme. We also need volunteers to work with children or adults in each of the wards and day centres, arts and craft work, hair styling, adult and paediatric nurses, primary and special needs teachers, art therapists, play and music therapists, occupational therapists, adult and paediatric physiotherapists.

For more information on these or other opportunities including medical placements, e-mail Jenny Chambers or phone +44 (0)1959 525110.
