Quiz Night: 16 July 2010
What a fun evening! Back by popluar demand, we had a full house on Friday evening and raised a total of £445 for the charity.
Sponsored Sky Dive: 26 June 2010
The team of 6 took to the skies 12000 feet above Headcorn. Have a look at our video under "What We Do" to see what I cannot put into words!! So far, they have made a profit of £824!
Radio 4 Appeal: 20 June 2010
Presented by The Duchess of Norfolk, she told of her own personal experience with the charity before talking specifically about one of our patients in Romania that she recently met. The Appeal is stilll bringing financial rewards, to date we have raised over £6000 as a result of this appeal.
You Raise Me Up! 12 June 2010
Christchurch, Tunbridge Wells were the hosts for this evening and what a wonderful evening of music it was - the audience were entertained by Stuart Pendred, Caroline Clipsham and Eliana Pretorian with interval refreshments being served.
Golf Tournament: 25 May 2010
This was an extremely well supported day that took place at Bruntsfield Golfing Society in Edinburgh. The golfers enjoyed a great day and have assured us of support for next years annual tournament!

Fashion Show: 22 May 2010
This took place on the hottest Saturday of the year so far! Tunbridge Wells & Tonbridge Shops hosted the event with excellent donated clothing. The total raised for the evening was £750.
Intershop Sponsored Slim: 1 March - 21 May 2010
The £'s were raised as the lb's were lost! The team from Otford won - and their well deserved prize was a cream tea! Total raised in financial pounds was £607.
Literary Lunch With Sandra Howard:29 April 2010
A wonderfully relaxed luncheon took place at The Brew House Hotel where 50 ladies enjoyed a two course luncheon whilst listening to the talk by Sandra Howard. Due to the success of this event, there will be another later in the year.
Be A Whizz at the Otford Quiz!: 10 April 2010
A great night was had by all when we tested the knowledge of 7 teams - resulting in a very clear losing team but a very close winner! All agreed the food was great, atmosphere relaxed and many have asked for a re-run, watch this space!
Gilbert & Sullivan Utopia Ltd: 19 March 2010
Supporters and their guests attended a performance by the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s (EDGAS) production of Utopia Ltd at the Kings Theatre, Tollcross, Edinburgh on Friday 19th March. This is not one of the well known Gilbert and Sullivan operettas but it was given a roistering redition with plenty of up to date satirical comment on the present political shinanigans. Guests were served drinks during the interval at the Grand Circle Bar and afterwards had an opportunity to meet the cast over a glass of champagne. We were extremely grateful to EDGAS for letting us have tickets at a competitive price and to the staff of the Kings Theatre for looking after us so well. All those who attended enjoyed themselves, had a very amusing evening and the donations continue to come in.
Romania Night: 5 March 2010
We were pleased to host our first event of the year in our Otford Tea Room last Friday - we enjoyed the culinary skills of Romania Chef Ciprian Ublehart - starting off with a glass of Romanian tuica!
Debbie Perolls With Cover Story: Supper & Jazz Evening, 26th February 2010
This event, held at The Grey Lady in Tunbridge Wells, was a huge success. The star of the evening was Debbie Perolls, who sang with her band "Cover Story" – their performance of smooth jazz, pop classics and contemporary soul music was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Thank you to all who supported the event and to Debbie Perolls With "Cover Story" who put on a brilliant evenings entertainment.
Charity Art Auction, Edinburgh, 30th November 2009

High Risk Strategy pays off for Trustee... Easter Sunday 2009
On Easter Sunday, Fergus Cass, a Trustee of Hospices of Hope, risked life and limb by jumping out of an airplane at over 10,000 feet.
Accompanied by his daughter Elizabeth (an experienced sky-diver) Fergus undertook the tandem jump to raise funds for Hospices of Hope and also Book Aid, another charity of which he is a trustee. All in all the madcap scheme raised almost £5,000 to be shared between the charities.

"...a day we have been dreaming about for a long time" 5th March 2009
On Wednesday 5th March 2009 at the Ministry of Health in Bucharest the Romanian Health Minster, Mr. Eugen Nicolaescu, signed a partnership agreement with Hospice Casa Sperantei to develop a national plan for hospice care in the country.
In his press release at the beginning of the year Minister Nicoleascu stated that hospice care was one of his priorities in 2008. The historic agrement was signed on behalf of the Hospice by Dr. Daniela Mosoiu, who said
"this is a great day for terminally ill patients in our country - a day we have been dreaming about for a long time"
Graham Perolls, founder of the charity, said
"It was always part of our vision to see what had been started in Brasov spread out to the rest of the country. This is a very exciting for Hospice Casa Sperantei and a tribute to all the staff who have persevered over so many years, often in very difficult circumstances."
The plan will cover not only the development of better care for terminally ill people at an institutional level but also hospice care at home.
From March until June a National Awareness Campaign highlighting the problems confronting people in the advanced stages of terminal illness was run. This campaign was funded by the European Union.

This annual event was another superb evening of fun and fundraising. The guest speaker was Columbia Radu, Trustee of Hospice Casa Sperantei in Romania and also the mother of two children who are both patients in the Hospice.

 Farthings Midsummer Ball, June 2008
On 21st June, Charles and Karen Sommer hosted a fundraising Dinner and Dance evening at their beautiful Sussex home organised by themselves and a commitee of friends. The ticket-only evening had 150 guests enjoying a champagne reception, delicious four-course dinner, lively auction and dancing until the early hours in spectacular surroundings. The evening was attended by special guest, Hospices of Hope Patron, The Duchess of Norfolk (pictured with committee members).
