Hospice Angelus, Chisinau

In 2007, Hospices of Hope invited Hospice Angelus to become their Moldovan hospice partner with a view to providing more effective hospice care to terminally ill patients in Moldova’s capital, Chisinau.

Hospice Angelus was set up in 2002 by Dr Valeriu Isaac after attending a conference held by Hospice Casa Sperantei in Brasov. The hospice team started treating patients in their own homes but unfortunately, due to the difficult conditions in the country, the small team lacked the resources needed to develop the project.

In September 2008, there was an official launch of Hospice Angelus in Chisinau. Currently, the Hospice Angelus team look after around 80 patients at any one time.

Hospice Angelus throughout 2008, expanded their work by finding an office premises to work from and also increasing their staff team. Hospice Angelus began 2009 with a staff team of 12 consisting of 4 doctors, 4 nurses, 1 social worker and 3 administrative staff.
